Colin Lazzerini's Radio ShowsShow Name: “JAZZ WITH LAZZ”- where the music comes first. Show Host: Colin Lazzerini About the Host Writer * Lyricist * Jazz Singer Co-owner of ‘Hip Pocket Music’, and two small independent specialist labels – first the decidedly jazzoid ‘RoadHouse’ and later a little singer-songwriter imprint called ‘Root Cellar’. My own performing career began in ‘70s Vancouver – at the ‘Classical Joint’ – with later gigs also in Toronto, San Diego, New Haven, London, Dublin, Brixton, Köln and Berlin. Founder-Manager of ‘Loose Tubes’ – critically-acclaimed hooligan co-operative orchestra and epicenter of the ‘80s UK ‘jazz boom’ – the 25-strong touring company played every major European jazz festival, a couple in Asia, and even a few in North America. Programmer-Director for events – First Docklands Jazz Festival, ‘Jazz Lunacy’, Loose Tubes Anniversary Festival, Surrey Quays Summer Festival, Heineken ‘Elephant’ beer-launch, etc. About the Show: The kind of show I would listen to: with content robust enough to please and surprise the informed palate – neither too esoteric as to become marginalized, nor veering towards the inoffensive pablum of the ’smooth’ menu – yet still attractively accessible to the casual listener able to respond to beauty and vitality and only too ready to find some kind of unexpectedly welcoming home on the dial.
